
Michael Brockett
Michael Brockett is a professional wellness advisor, mentor, and coach. He is the creator and facilitator of Master Mind classes now available through Counseling Associates of the Four States. Master Mind instruction is not traditional, boilerplate, classroom style education. Master Mind classes are taught privately and exclusively, one-on-one, via Zoom, FaceTime, or Telephone. Prior to initiating instruction, Michael interviews prospective students to determine their specific objectives, wants and needs. He then takes Master Mind core materials and creates specific educational curriculum to align with the objectives, wants and needs of the student.
[read more]Michael is recognized as a professional patient advocate working closely with the healthcare industry for over 20 years. He was trained and certified as a Health and Wellness Advisor/Coach by the Mayo Clinic College of Science and Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota and as a Freedom From Smoking™ Facilitator by the American Lung Association. Additionally, he has been certified as a facilitator of the SYMBIS (Save Your Marriage Before It Starts) assessment program. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and graduated from Missouri Southern State University, Rockhurst University, and the University of Oklahoma’s Professional Development Institute. He completed mediation training at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Prior to relocating to Oklahoma some twenty-five years ago, Michael practiced as a court-certified, family mediator in Joplin. He was certified as a Practitioner Member of the Academy of Family Mediators and served on the Board of Directors of the Newton Jasper County Family Violence Council. He was a co-facilitator of Joplin’s court-mandated “Alternatives to Violence” program and worked closely with Legal Aid of Western Missouri providing pro bono divorce mediation services on behalf of victims of domestic violence. He was appointed to the American Arbitration Association’s Family Mediation Panel and has been adjunct facility and/or instructed adult education classes at Crowder College, Missouri Southern State University, the University of Missouri, and Oklahoma State University.
While in Oklahoma Michael was certified as a family mediator by the State of Oklahoma and was routinely court-appointed as guardian ad litem, representing abused and neglected children in Oklahoma courts. He initiated the very first court-ordered anger management education program in Pawnee County Oklahoma and was appointed as a “Special Investigator” by the Osage/Pawnee County District Attorney’s Office providing investigative support for criminal child abuse cases. Michael was appointed to the Juvenile Post Adjudication Review Board (PARB) for the State of Oklahoma and assisted Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) organizations throughout the four-state area with training and consultation on matters of conflict management. Michael is a non-lawyer, Associate Member (Mediator) of the American Bar Association.
